We welcome you to watch our practice in any of the scheduled classes above. We have set plenty of seating in our Dojo. Please take your time to watch our practices and decide if Kendo is right for you. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask our instructors.
Beginner Class

Instructors at our Dojo are teaching on a voluntary basis and are taking time from their schedule to teach the classes. If you join the beginner class, you must make the effort to attend every class especially the first few months. If you miss a number of classes, we reserve the right to suspend or expel you from the Dojo. To rejoin, you will have to join the next beginner class and pay all the fees. Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. No enrollment accepted after the enrollment dates below.(See Calendar page for detailed dates)


          Enrollment : First and Second Tuesdays, in January -possibly in July

        Class Hours : Tuesdays, 6:00pm to 7:00pm

                   Fees : Total of $215 at Registration (See chart for detail)

           Equipment : Shinai (Bamboo Sword) and Bokken(Wooden Sword)

                              are  needed to start.


                  Other : You must have medical insurance and sign a waiver

About the equipment

Shinai & Bokken (Required to start - $30 each & up)

Keikogi & Hakama (uniform) - not initially needed
Bogu (equipment) - not needed for about 6-12 months

Instructors would notify you to purchase Keikogi,Hakama and equipment when you are ready.

Welcome to the PCI Kendo Dojo website.

On behalf of the senseis and dojo members, I thank you for your interest in learning kendo at our dojo.

Our dojo was established in 1955 and one of the original members, Maki Miyahara (8th degree black belt) is teaching at our location.

In kendo, age does not matter, we have senseis and students ranging from 9 to 86 years old. We also offer Iaido
instruction for those students who are interested as well.

Since our Dojo runs on a voluntary basis, We expect our Kenshis to have certain etiquette practices in the Dojo and attend the practice regularly to respect the time that Senseis spend teaching you.

We understand there are some circumstances in which you may not be able to attend class, however we have a guidelines in our Attendance policy that you need to try your best to adhere to in order to maintain your current status as a PCI Kendo Dojo member. also participation to Shinkyu shinsa ( grade examination test ) and tournaments.
